Tutorial On Bottle Treasure

As an artist (kuno! teehee ), creating art while recycling materials has always intrigue me. Like for example ...recycling a bottle! A bottle is a relatively easy material to come by, and it is cheap. Some people look at a bottle and see only what is inside (like soy sauce or ketchup or patis etc...) and use the contents and simply throw the bottle away. But fortunately for us, not all people see the empty bottle as an object to be discarded. For some people, an empty bottle presents itself as an exciting material to re-use for a different purpose. ..there are those who create art with bottles.

To make this project, simply follow these easy and quick steps:
( For this project, I used a cali shandy bottle.)
1. I covered the entire bottle with newspaper strips using glue.
2.I added scrapbook papers /corrugated board around the body.
3.Punched holes for the eyelets. Did a criss-cross lacing pattern and tied a bow at the end.
4.Attached flowers, buttons and colored feathers.
4.Added tags....Done!

Stone Art 2

I made another Stone Art Project using a bigger stone this time. If you look closely, the photo used has thinner texture. I used the lifting solution to achieve this. Here is the instruction on how to use this solution:
(This technique requires a lot of time though..be patient.)
1.Apply a thin coat of the solution on the photo using a sponge brush with a right to left direction.Let dry.
2.Apply a second film from left to right.Let dry.
3.Apply the next coating from top to bottom.Let dry.
4.Apply the fourth coating from bottom to top.
5.Repeat the process two more times. (Repeat #1 to # 4 twice)
6.If the photo is all dry, submerge the photo in water and slowly remove the thick paper at the back of the photo using your hands.
7.Attach the thin photo onto the stone.Decorate and your done.

New Look

Usually I wear long gowns to host weddings, but I always like to steer away from the conventional and so this time I chose a cocktail dress that had a style cue from the 60’s. Cocktail dresses are both stylish and chic. I paired this retro ensembles with a silver open toe heel stilettos.
Just for a new look...

The Reason Why I missed Scrapfest 5 ...

I know that there is nothing that can match the excitement of attending Scrapfest 5 but I missed the opportunity to be part of the event (huhuhu)...i heard the event was tremendously filled with demos on new scrapping techniques (Waaaah!!!)...Anyway, there's still tomorrow ....can't wait till May 2009!!! The reason behind my absence is that because I had to host a wedding reception...too bad the wedding was also on the same date as scrapfest 5.

Stone Art

I've always love to combine nature and craft. I love to recycle natural materials like shells, dried leaves, stones, twigs, pebbles, moss etc.and create something memorable out of it. Here's an easy project that you can try.
1.Look for a big stone with a flat surface. Wash and let dry.
2.Choose a suitable picture and tear the sides.
3. Attach embellishments around the picture like buttons. Natural materials can be utilized for a realistic look. In this project, I used shells, twigs, flower beads, fish beads, clam and starfish beads and moss.

4. Add some tags or stickers for the finishing touch.

A Notebook and a Pen

I always carry a small notebook and a reliable pen with me. I can always find a few minutes to jot down a paragraph or doodle a thing or two or maybe sketch down ideas for a craft project while waiting in line for kids to get out of school, dance practice, boring PTA meetings etc. A page in the notebook here......used photoshop to add color and voila! I think a page a day would be good!..... I call her "Leasha"!

Mag Rack

I work in a somewhat organized disorder (or is that disordered organization? ). I have a system to keep my materials under control and make sure I always keep my tools and embellishments in a box or tray. But what doesn’t seem to be working, however, is my system for storing scraps stash and papers and so I thought of buying a magazine rack to keep them. I decorated these racks cause I felt they looked somewhat "naked"...it needed some accessories. Then, I’ve started to “scrap bust” !...and here are the happy results of this initial endeavor.

Trash or Treasure

This old bag has served me well throughout the years, but eventually it's days are numbered and now it's doing nothing more than gathering dust until the end of time.
But I thought perhaps there is still something I could do with it. And why not? I like DIY stuff that's why I decided to create this altered bag.
